Guidelines for Using Your NewThoughtStreams Account

NewThoughtStreams.com - a considerable added value

Each New Thought Center that goes through the Prosperity Program Training is provided with a NewThoughtStreams.com account which consists of a sub-domain on the Streams server. This is a valuable asset to your Spiritual Center. During the Prosperity Program, the Spiritual Leadership and Center Administrators are trained how to access their Streams website. You are given guidance about using it and how to upload content. The training program is designed to liberate the Center Leadership, with particular attention to the Spiritual Leaders, from the concept that website maintenance is an esoteric tradition that is difficult to understand and challenging to perform. Over the last years, we have trained spiritual leaders around the world in several languages and have proven that anyone can learn to do this with minimum effort. As stated on the main website, we have trained Spiritual Leaders up to the age of 83. We believe we can train anyone who desires to learn.

Using Your New Thought Stream

Once your New Thought Streams account is set up, you may then upload web pages and media content of your New Thought Center into your sub-domain and even target the sub-domain with a different domain name. Whether you choose to utilize a domain name or not, the sub-domain must have an index and downloads must come off links placed either on that index or a sub-page directly from New Thought Streams. Caching files on New Thought Streams for remote download directly from another website is not allowed. There are good reasons for this. First and foremost this service is offered in order to support ALL of New Thought and to build an audience for multiple streams in order to bring more people into New Thought Centers around the globe regardless of their status, whether independent or affiliated with a denomination. Centers abusing this resource by using their sub-domain as a cache are contravening the intent of the site and ultimately hurting all centers including their own. In short, create an index in your subdomain, then link from your main website to that index. Once your users are on the New Thought Streams site, then they click on your links there to download your streams / podcasts.

Allowable Content

All content on New Thought Streams must be Spiritual in nature. Streams is mainly an audio website. Films ARE allowed but only if the films are edited. No talking heads, stage strutting or films with low video production values can be placed into a sub-domain for download. New Thought Streams is designed to ultimately provide the visitor with a variety of quality content that shows all of New Thought in a positive light, thus if you have low value video, use YouTube. No pornography, joke films, or fundamentalist films of any kind will be allowed. It is within the purview of Serving New Thought to disallow any content it deems unfit with no need to give a reason. If we do not like your content, it is not allowed. This has not happened so far, thus chances of this happening are remote. However, content is periodically reviewed. If a complaint is filed that content you have posted is offensive to a particular party for any reason, ie sexism, racism or some other reason, the content will be blocked, then reviewed, then if it is determined that it is offensive, it will be removed. Please do not post offensive materials.

Primarily New Thought Streams is for providing audio downloads

Primary media content should consist of mp3’s to be downloaded to people’s i-pods and mp3 players in the form of “podcasts”. If a center desires maximum compatibility for the end user in order to maximize its potential audience, then the mp3 format is the one to choose. If you wish to limit the accessibility to your podcasts, then you can elect to use a propriety form of audio file such as Windows Media Files (wma) or iTunes. However, keep in mind that you may not place duplicate files in a variety of formats upon the server. Thus you cannot record a talk, then output it into more than one format and place those multiple formats on the server. If we find that this is being done, we will choose which format will remain and delete the rest. If it is repeated, then account access will be terminated until a clear understanding is reached regarding this matter. Choose your format and stick to it, if you pick a format and decide to change your mind later, then be sure and remove any duplicate files when doing a conversion. Do not use .wav files as they are too heavy, simply download the free version of Real Player and convert the .wav file to an mp3, then upload the mp3.

Using Flash Video Files (.flv format)

FLV is the format for Flash video files. Supported from version 7, FLV is now the preferred format for delivering video clips via Flash. We do not allow the use of Flash Video Files (.flv) for audio. There is a very good reason for this. Studies have shown that few viewers wish to sit at their computers and stare at a static picture while listening to a talk; so few, that we will not host Flash Video Files that are being used for audio. The same person that can stare at a static picture and listen can simply download an mp3 and stare at the media player on the screen while it plays. The end user can choose which media player he or she wishes to stare at, if you choose the mp3 format for your audio files then all players can play your talks. In short, use Flash Video for video, not for audio.
